PROPERTY Week has revealed this year’s top office locations outside London and Colchester has risen 34 places from 82nd to 48th.
Location strategist and data analyst experts CACI have put together the Hot 100 UK Office Locations, a ranking of the best new and secondary office locations across the UK, excluding London. To compile the ranking CACI assesses 373 UK locations, taking into account a number of variables. Each location is then ranked on each metric and assigned an A to E grade – A being most favourable.
Councillor Mark Cory, Leader of Colchester Borough Council, said: “The council is allocating considerable resources into the increasing demand for, and opportunities to develop, workspaces for businesses and organisations that wish to expand.
“Colchester’s improvement is a fantastic reflection of the investment in the town. Long known for being Britain’s first city and oldest recorded town, today Colchester is one of the fastest growing places in the UK.”
David Rooke, Location Services Director for Invest ESSEX, added: “Despite a recent report that towns in the South East could experience shortfalls in office availability, this is very much not the case in Colchester.
“The town has optimised its setting by implementing strategies to become one of the best-connected locations in the Eastern region by improving infrastructure, securing added value employment, increasing its attraction for businesses and residents alike.

The work being carried out by Colchester Borough Council’s new commercial arm, Colchester Commercial Holdings’ three subsidiary companies, has made significant progress in several key projects within Colchester, to boost the town’s offering for business, working both independently and on behalf of Colchester Borough Council.
