Essex Law firm announces promotion

BIRKETT Long has announced the promotion of solicitor, Tim Field, to Associate.

Tim is a solicitor in the commercial and corporate finance team, based in Colchester. He has had an unusual career in that he worked in a completely different industry for a number of years before becoming a lawyer.

Tim studied at Northumbria University in Newcastle and completed his training contract at another local law firm. He joined Birkett Long as a newly qualified solicitor and has rapidly mastered the requirements of the corporate and commercial discipline. Tim’s work involves everything from buying and selling companies, to drafting terms and conditions and other bespoke business agreements. Tim has also taken over responsibility for advising on charity law matters, and jointly leads the Health and Social Care team.

Tim has been busy building his profile in Colchester, becoming a trustee of Firstsite, the arts venue; a trustee of Open Road, a charity helping people recover from various forms of addiction; and a director of Our Colchester, responsible for the bid to improve Colchester for businesses.

Tim says: “I like working for a well-established, respected and trusted firm within Essex. Having worked in business prior to qualifying as a solicitor, I have experience of many situations that my clients come to me with. I enjoy the variety of working closely with a range of different businesses. I am really pleased to become an Associate as it shows that the partners recognise the work and contribution I am making to the firm.”

Birkett Long has offices in Chelmsford, Colchester, Basildon and London. With 26 partners, it provides a wide range of legal and independent financial services for business including corporate and commercial advice, dispute resolution, education, insolvency, intellectual property and employment and for individuals: wills and conveyancing, family law, independent financial advice, dispute resolution and accident and negligence claims.
