Essex Wildlife Trust is calling on the business community across the county to throw its weight behind a fight to oppose changes to England’s planning system.
A spokesman for Essex Wildlife Trust said: “England’s planning system is changing – and not for the better. The new changes could mean we lose more of our threatened wildlife and also find it harder to have a say on local planning proposals. We need a successful planning system to let nature recover and thrive.
“Nature needs to be given more priority in planning, yet proposed changes for the system in England will only make a bad situation much worse: failing nature, people, and local democracy too. These changes also fail to address climate change, the ecological emergency, and growing health inequalities. They need some underpinning principles to set them on the right track, otherwise they will make a wilder future impossible!
