About

Chelmsford College is a Further Education college with a pass rate of 95%.  We are top of the national league tables for 16-18 progression and have been graded “Good” by Ofsted.  Our students and staff win awards!

We work with around 300 employers and have 30 leading apprenticeship courses available.  We can help you by matching you with apprentices and students looking for industry placements and work experience and with your training needs.  If you’d like support with your levy funding - working out your entitlement, transfers and options - our Levy Support Group might be for you.  We have a no-obligation helpline you can call: 01245 293119 and email service: levy@chelmsford.ac.uk if you’d like to cut through the confusion and get clear on your levy funding and training needs.

We aim to connect with industry professionals just like you, so we can hear what’s most important to you in training the next generation.  You are warmly invited to our Showcase Open Evenings to see behind the scenes at Chelmsford College and to discuss matters which are important to you.

Services or Products

We have four core services within our College:

  • Full-time and part-time Further Education courses
  • Apprenticeships
  • Commercial training
  • Short courses
Our prospectus and website are our comprehensive guide to full-time, part-time courses and apprenticeships but there is no substitute for speaking with us in person at our Open Evenings.  You can explore your options, meet tutors, receive careers advice and even apply on the evening. For apprenticeships it’s best to arrange an appointment with our Apprenticeships Team who can discuss options, funding and vacancies. You are entitled to free, impartial careers advice at Chelmsford College.  We have a dedicated team of trained professionals to discuss your career and training options.  To book an appointment please call 01245 293031 or email us to arrange. Our short and commercial courses are publicised throughout the year.  They don’t necessarily follow an academic timetable and are often delivered flexibly, in the evenings or over a number of workshops.  To find out more please visit our website or contact us.

What We Do

Student experience is at the heart of what we do.  We engage with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure the education and training we deliver meets the needs of our customers.  National policy has a significant influence on the work our College does with over 70% of College income derived from the Government.  Our environment is dynamic and fast changing.  Industry recognises that the impact of skills is the key to future prosperity.  We believe our College is well placed to deliver the needs of all its learners. The College is a key part of mid-Essex.  We work hard to prepare our learners for the world of work.  Throughout their time at College our learners develop both the knowledge and skills needed to achieve their goals and successfully progress onto their next step, be that further study, employment or higher education.
